Hi all,
This is an how to drop the spinnaker, turn around and tack in the correct order of do things, trim and cleanup.
step 1: wile spinnakersailing: important step! check and cleanup all the sheets and hallyards!! this is verry important for an smooth drop and sail.
step 2: unfurl or hoist the jib, you want create a wall of sails for an easy spinnakerdrop. and steer around 120-160 degrees.
step 3: pickup the leeward spinnakersheet and drop the windward sheet (fast) so all pressure of the spinnaker is lost.
step 4: pull the leeward sheet and reach the spinnaker behind the mainsail. try to grab the center of the spinnaker, pulling from centre will help avoiding the spinnaker catch some wind.
step 5: when in control, ease the spinnaker hallyard and pull as fast as you can. (the first part you can slip the hallyard by hand, when in control and fast enough, let go the hallyard complete)
step 6: turn in or round mark, trim mainsail and jib to correct course.
step 7: remove spinnaker pole and cleanup sheets, check for tack.
step 8: tack, trim and enjoy your new course.
