This intro to literature begins with Homer's famous epic tale The Odyssey. The companion poem to The Iliad, this poem deals with the aftermath of the Trojan War, and the travails of the families blighted by war and the channels of returning home for its hero Odysseus.
Books 1-4 fix their gaze on Ithaka, Odysseus's kingdom, and the plight of his wife Penelope and his son Telemachos, who has lived his twenty years without a father.
