If you’ve been in tune with Invincible Season 3 & the community as a whole, you’d know that the show has finally reached Mark vs Conquest & has given us an amazing adaptation of this fight. It’s a critically acclaimed episode rated amongst the best, but the adaptation wasn’t one to one, as the show writers would add much more nuance to the character of Conquest than we originally received through the comics through some of his actions & words. But, the most notable addition to Conquests character would be him telling Mark about his loneliness & how none of the other viltrumites will not speak to him due to their fear of him & his success at invading planets… he concludes this speech by saying that he’s a victim of his own success; and is so good at invading planets that he doesn’t even earn a real name. Conquest, is his name; because that is his sole purpose. Now, this scene is actually more than just Conquest talking smack & being funny, and it’s even more than just an insight to his character; and in fact, it’s an insight into a massive part of the narrative & storytelling of Invincible as a whole; and in this video essay, I intend to explain how that is. Since I value the time of both you & I, I’m gonna cut the intro short. But there are two things I need to say. First, this will be getting into spoilers for the story of Invincible so don’t complain in the comments, I gave you the warning.
