How to Foil Stickers with a Laminator + Cricut Explore Tutorial // Free DIY Overlay Printable

I am excited (as always) for today's video! This is the long awaited how to foil planner stickers at home! I am also going to share with you a FREE printable so you can try this process for yourself and it is just in time for the inauguration in January!

I've been practicing foiling since about Mother's Day this year because that is when Zach bought me my laser printer so these are the tips and tricks that I have. I go back and forth all the time about whether it is worth it to foil at home and totally thing some things are better than others - like these foiled overlays and washi always seem to work better for me than foiling icons. I use a laminator to foil so I'm not sure if the Minc heats to a higher temp to allow the foil to stick better...not sure.

I did by some foils from a few etsy shops that I do know make their foils 'in house' as opposed to outsourcing/mass producing it and have noticed little imperfections here and there so that makes me feel a little better about the troubles I have.

Other notes to mention - you can not use the Foil Quil heat reactive foil for this type of foiling. It is made differently and seems to just react to the heat and not necessarily the toner. I tried with some I found on clearance and there were MANY specs of foil where there was no toner. And I don't mean just a few specs here and there but a significant amount to make the overlays unusable.

There is another brand of foil that I found (listed below) that is reactive to toner + it is much cheaper for more on a roll. This foil is originally designed to work with an adhesive to create T shirts but the foil on its own is reactive to the toner. It is called StarCraft Electra Foil & I got it from 143vinyl.com. It is still in the mail to me so I will update you all when I get it and do more foiling stuff. (+ I have a Foil Quill on the way so keep a look out for that video!) I found the StarCraft Electra Foil by looking very, very closely at a shop Instagram story I found. So the information is out there...ya just have to scour!
