Attempting to SIDE-SLIP like Air Canada 143 in TFS? | Turboprop Flight Simulator

Welcome back TFS and aviation enthusiasts! Today I will try to re create Air Canada Flight 143, also dubbed as "Gimli Glider". This isn't an original idea, TFS Aviation also attempted this 2 years ago but failed. He retried a year ago but wasn't too successful. So I decided to see how hard it was.

On 23rd July 1983, the flight operated by a B767 was accidentally loaded with less fuel due to a metrics change and lost all engine power at 41,000 feet due to fuel exhaustion. Captain Pearson and First Officer Quintal glided the jet all the way to land at an abandoned air force base.

During the landing, the plane was a bit too high and too fast to land but did not have enough to execute a go around, so the pilots decided to attempt a maneuver called a "slide-slip". It was done rarely and only glider pilots actually performed it, and never on a huge commercial jet. Nevertheless, they pulled it off.

In this video I also attempt to slide-slip and use some other tricks such as coming from the side and having a strong crosswind perpendicular to the runway. Is it possible? Watch the entire video to find out!
