There was a very strong Moorish castle on the border, which was attacked by Christian expeditions from Uclés and Calatrava with many cavalry.

Don Alfonso Téllez was there, an appreciated wealthy man who brought a great company of excellent courageous and daring knights, other good warriors and many Almogavars, infantrymen and crossbowmen, with whom he promptly stormed the castle.

Strongly besieged, its walls demolished, the population that lived inside, terrified and defeated, took refuge in a sturdy tower.

Each side of it was mined and set on fire; the Moors of the interior, to save themselves from the flames, squeezed themselves between the battlements and thus many of those unfortunates died.

Cornered by the fire that blinded and burned her, a blackberry climbed to the top with her son, whom she loved more than herself, to save him.

And poor she sat between two battlements with the child in her arms, and despite the voracity of the fire that surrounded them, neither she nor her son suffered burns.

To the master of Calatrava, Don Gonzalo Yáñez, who made an effort to serve God by fighting the Moors and for that reason attacked that tower with such viciousness, and to the already mentioned Don Alfonso Téllez, when they saw the Moor between the battlements of the mined and burned bastion , an image of the Virgin with the Child in her arms appeared to them, and they felt pity for them, the same as the other Christians present, and with intense affliction they implored God to save them, despite being unfaithful, and God wanted to do this Great miracle:

that part of the tower came down slowly on a wide plain, so that neither of them, neither the mother nor the child, suffered any harm when they fell; The Virgin Mary deposited them safely in a meadow, to whom the Christians prayed for both. Everyone was very amazed at what had happened and they sang praises to her and her Son; the blackberry and the child were baptized.
