This is my first excursion within the Music Mouse (2026) App. I never saw the original ( and legendary )1986 version that ran on an Atari, Amiga, or an early Mac. This one is running on my Windows 11 machine.
Synthanatomy stated in their review: "The concept of the Music Mouse or the “Intelligent Music Instrument” is simple. It turns simple mouse movements into real-time melody and counterpoint, letting you play music directly instead of programming it."
The computer keyboard gives you access to shortcuts to change rhythmic treatment (chord, arp, line, improv (random!!!), tempo, harmony, symmetry (parallel or contrary), transposition (+ - ), articulation (staccato, half-legato, legato), pattern selection (10 patterns). Of course you could take your mouse to click on those performance characteristics, but that would be like taking both hands off your keyboard! For those who do want to use the mouse as a mouse, you can hold down the left mouse button and slide off the playing grid to make changes. Try it all! It's quite fun!
