By doing this you will get optimum speed and pack a strong punch, without injuring your hand. If you stay to tight, you will fatigue yourself quickly and restrict your speed and movements. And if you stay too loose, you risk injuring your hand and won't have any density in your fist, resulting in a weak punch.
