This is the second drill in a series of about 10 basic drills you should master as a speed skater. Those drills will help you develop strength in a skating position as well as developing technical aspects of the movement off ice.
Workout suggestion:
Beginners - 2x 10 x 6-10 steps in position with 1' rest; set rest 3-5'
Advanced - 2x 10 x 10-20 steps in position with 1' rest (jog); set rest 3-5' jog
Execution is slow and controlled.
This drill will teach you the fist steps of weight transfer and how to create pressure under your center of gravity.
