I define a cloche as a protective cropping structure that you can't enter - you tend from the outside. Then I describe the main forms - glass cloche, plastic-covered, tunnel cloche, frame, and insect- or bird-proof cloche, including the advantages and disadvantages of each. I explain how you should manage your cloche - early in the season, types of crops, pest management, issues with excessive heating, and whether to remove the cloche as the crop matures. I finish with a channel discussion.
