While the pixelated screenshots and gorgeously grotesque artwork might make it seem like World of Horror is just a stylish visual novel, it's actually a surprisingly intense roguelike. As I mentioned throughout my review, it's very easy to make a series of small mistakes that will absolutely cripple your character — both in combat and during investigations. However, once you get past the steep difficulty curve and figure out what World of Horror truly demands from you, there's a lot of fun (and terror) to be had. After all, the greater the challenge, the sweeter the victory!
