This was a choice shared with Niccolò Ricci, CEO, who is charting the course to overcome “a particularly complex moment such as this one. After closing 2019 at 148.5 million EUR, in line with forecasts, and with an EBITDA at 26.3, the start of 2020 was certainly marked by the global lockdown. We're not just talking about figures, as there is no certainty concerning the end of the pandemic. Still, we do expect a gradual recovery in the second half of the year following encouraging signs recorded in June. This pushes us to continue investing to meet the needs of international markets, all the while ensuring absolute quality. To begin again in Florence becomes a message of true rebirth, drawing inspiration from the history and strength that this city has been able to express over the centuries”.
Florence, the Great: daughter of the Guilds, the medieval crafts and the Renaissance. She is a city capable of expressing her internationality, even in periods of diminished acclaim such as in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This is the unprecedented angle taken for this stage in the journey of Italy's Great Beauty. It combines the rediscovery of nature with a tribute to Giuseppe Poggi’s Fontana delle Rampe and the desire to reopen expressed by the temples of hospitality: the Four Seasons Hotel Firenze, the Belmond Villa San Michele Florence, The St. Regis Firenze, The Westin Excelsior Florence, Helvetia & Bristol and Villa Cora.
“As Fernando Pessoa wrote, ‘Travel is the traveller.’,” states Filippo Ricci, “and it is thanks to great travellers that Florence became a destination not only for the Grand Tour but also for those who dialogue between exotic styles and elegance. This is how we imagined a contemporary traveller, one who lives for luxury hôtellerie, interpreting the lockdown as a moment to ponder beauty deeply.
