Nature reserve t Gulden Land is located between the village of Aarle-Rixtel (Aarle-Rixtel merged with the surrounding villages of Beek en Donk and Lieshout in 1992 as the municipality of Laarbeek. The villages do have their own name on the place name signs with the caption Municipality of Laarbeek.) and the city of Helmond. The nature reserve consists of swamp forest and grasslands.
Originally, the nature reserve was focused on agricultural and nature use. Over the years, the area has become overgrown and is not resistant to weather extremes. The water system was not well equipped to cope with climate change.
In collaboration with the municipalities of Laarbeek and Helmond, Waterschap AA en Maas has redesigned the area in the period from May 2023 to March 2025.
During the opening of the renovated nature reserve, I started filming to show how beautiful this nature reserve has become.
It is wonderful to walk and cycle in 't Gulden Land. Enjoy the surroundings, the birds and the cattle that graze there.
Note:
A water board (Dutch: waterschap) aims to regulate the water management in a specific region.
