1. Piston at Mid Point and Displacer in Hot End of the Displacer Chamber
The displacer has pushed all of the working fluid into the cold end. The power piston is being pushed inwards by the flywheel inertia.
2. Piston at TDC and Displacer mid Chamber
All the working fluid is in the Displacer Chamber. The displacer is pushing the gas into the hot space and already a certain amount is being subjected to heat. The pressure begins to rise.
3. Piston at Mid Point and Displacer in Cold End of the Displacer ChamberThe displacer has pushed the gas into the hot end, increasing the pressure to the maximum. The expanding gas pushes the piston out, which in turn pushes the piston shaft out. The force to the driveshaft rotation adds to the flywheel inertia.
4. Piston at BDC and the Displacer mid Chamber
The displacer is beginning to push the gas into the cold end of the displacer chamber. This results in the system pressure falling. The flywheel momentum will push the piston back to TDC.
