Mooresville’s boys basketball team beat the two-time defending state champion North Mecklenburg 55-52 in the NCHSAA 7A Western Regional Championship on Friday night.
North Mecklenburg had a chance to tie the game with 2 seconds left, but the shot went in and out.
Qua Bailey led Mooresville in scoring with 16 points. Christian Wilson scored 13 points, and Jordan Walton posted 10 points.
North Meck was led by Ashton Pierce’s 14 points. Wilson Estwick and Exzavier Young scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Mooresville will face Southern Durham in the 7A state championship game.
