Today, Bristol made history with its first ever Birdman Competition – and I was there to film every leap, splash, and flying attempt off the harbourside!

Organised by the amazing team at Grassroot Communities, the event was all about supporting young people and communities to fly – quite literally and figuratively. From homemade wings to wacky costumes, it was a day packed with laughter, bravery, and real community spirit.

Grassroot Communities is all about creating sustainable change in everyday communities, through connection, transformational projects, and programmes based on the wants and needs of young people. This event was a perfect example of that mission in action.
