Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rejected accusations by US President Donald Trump that terrorists in Nigeria are persecuting and killing Christians. In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, the Nigerian government reaffirmed its commitment to combating violent extremism and expressed hope for continued close ties with Washington. Earlier, President Trump had warned that the US military would target locations in Nigeria if the government failed to address his concerns.
