Описание: In this podcast episode, Dr. Bhabesh Dutta of the University of Georgia and Dr. Thomas Isakeit of Texas A&M University discuss the Onion-IQ research project, which was funded by NIFA OREI in 2023.. One part of this ongoing project is learning about how to manage soil-borne bacterial diseases which cause onion bulbs to rot, and how different cultural practices affect disease resistance, soil health, and food safety. Researchers are experimenting with biofumigation and soil solarization, and also have developed a way to differentiate different Burkholderia in the soil.
