‘Can stop war right now’: John Kirby lampoons Putin, says ‘knocking out Ukraine's heat instead’

Kirby also dubbed Putin as the person ‘single-handedly’ responsible for the situation of the Ukrainians. Calling every effort to make Putin understand to stop the war, Kirby also welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to talk with his Russian counterpart over the Russia and Ukraine conflict. The remark was post the question being asked about the availability of time for PM Modi to stop the war or to convince President Putin. “The single person responsible for what Ukrainian people are going through is Vladimir Putin and he could stop it right now. Instead, he's firing cruise missiles into energy and power infrastructure and trying to knock out the lights and knock out the heat,” Kirby said “I'll let the PM speak to whatever efforts he's willing to undertake. US would welcome any effort that could lead to an end of hostilities in Ukraine,” he added.
