Hello friends!
For those of us who are constantly creating sewing projects, cabbage can be a bit of a dilemma sometimes. I don't like throwing things away although it is hard to find uses for all those teeny tiny pieces of fabric left from cutting clothing pieces. When these pieces are big enough to fit a few pattern pieces for a doll's outfit I save it up in a box for later use -but I end up having bags full of spare pieces that cannot be used for anything!... Nothing, really? No, not really!! =D
A homemade tailor's ham can be a solution for this and it has two benefits!
First, we reduce our waste which is great.
And second, we end up having a tool that will help us improve our sewing -or more specifically, our pressing!
A tailor's ham is a pressing tool: a generally pear/teardrop/peanut shaped cushion (the pro ones are filled with wood shavings, by the way) that emulates the volume of the human body to help us press our seams or garments on a three-dimensional shape so it works three-dimensionally better later on. This is specially useful for tailors or sewists who are constantly working with very curvy garments such as corsets, jackets or evening wear.
This project is super easy and quick, it can be sewn by hand and the end result works perfectly fine for the purpose!
