Ahead of a very special tour of the routes their Class 502 Unit would have worked, after entering service in early 1940's, we popped in to see the restoration work taking place. The Friends of the 502 Group's tour is due to be held on Sunday, 2 April 2017 and more information can be found at about the group on:- www.Class502.Org.UK.
The Class 502, Electric Train is one of the UK's over looked bits of history. The Unity's only ran for 40 years on the Southport, Liverpool and Ormskirk to Liverpool likes, terminating at Liverpool Exchange Station, but it lead to a revolution in design of British Trains. Its designs inspired and lead the way for nearly all the UK's current rolling stock on the UK's networks today.
