Receiving an OCD and Emetophobia diagnosis as a 41 year old woman made all the pieces come together. I look back on my entire life and now it all makes sense.
The obsessions.
The intensity of fear.
The agony.
The compulsions to keep me "safe."
The obsessions waxed and waned, changed and morphed over the years. And it all came crashing down when COVID-19 shut us down and within weeks my sweet little oopsie child was born.
The safety behaviors made me nuts.
The panic drove me insane.
The uncertainty made this OCD-ified Emetophobe desire death over life.
The darkness closed in and a decision had to be made.
Do I leave the family? Do I put it all behind me? Do I finally put myself out of my misery?
Or do I turn around? Do I repent? Do I shout out desperately for help?
One Google search and a phone call turned on a tiny light. A seed of hope was planted. And the moon slowly began to shine its light so that the growing hope plant could be seen.
A full moon was on the horizon.
