Описание: Smolenický zámok alebo zámok Smolenice je zámok, ktorý sa nachádza nad obcou Smolenice.
Dejiny

Stredoveký hrad stál na mieste dnešného Smolenického zámku na úpätí Malých Karpát nad obcou rovnakého mena.

Vznikol až v 14. storočí ako posledný zo strážnych hradov pri malokarpatských priesmykoch. Na začiatku 15. storočia bol kráľovským majetkom, neskôr patril pezinským a svätojurským grófom a od začiatku 16. storočia rodine Országovcov. Potom ho takmer dve storočia vlastnili Erdődyovci.

Na konci 18. storočia zámok spustol a na začiatku 19. storočia vyhorel, takže zostali z neho iba ruiny, z ktorých vyčnievala len päťboká hlavná veža a bašty vonkajšieho opevnenia.

Na začiatku 20. storočia začali jeho poslední majitelia, Pálfiovci, stavať na hradných ruinách historizujúcu stavbu terajšieho Smolenického zámku. Zo starého hradu pri prestavbe zachovali iba časť vonkajšieho opevnenia. Zámok dobudovali až po roku 1945.
Súčasné využitie
Smolenický zámok je majetkom Slovenskej akadémie vied a pre verejnosť je sprístupnený iba sčasti (záhrady, nádvorie, vyhradené miestnosti). Na zámku sa robia svadby a organizujú sa v ňom národné i medzinárodné vedecké konferencie, čo určite neprospieva zachovaniu jeho pôvodného rázu, ale na druhej strane je to pre zámok skoro jediný zdroj príjmov, z ktorého môžu hradiť jeho nákladnú údržbu. Od brány po vežu zdolávajú turisti 156 schodov. Pálffyovci majú na miestnom cintoríne hrobku.

Smolenice Castle is a castle located above the village of Smolenice.
History

The medieval castle stood on the site of today's Smolenicky Castle at the foot of the Small Carpathians above the village of the same name.

It was created only in the 14th century as the last of the guard castles near the Lesser Carpathian passes. At the beginning of the 15th century it was a royal property, later it belonged to the Pezin and Svatojurské counts, and from the beginning of the 16th century to the Ország family. Then it was owned by the Erdődys for almost two centuries.

At the end of the 18th century, the castle fell into disrepair and burned down at the beginning of the 19th century, leaving only ruins, from which only the pentagonal main tower and the bastions of the outer fortification stood out.

At the beginning of the 20th century, its last owners, the Pálfi family, began to build the historical building of the current Smolenické Castle on the castle ruins. Only a part of the outer fortification was preserved from the old castle during the reconstruction. The castle was not completed until after 1945.
Current use
Smolenicky Castle is the property of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and is only partially accessible to the public (gardens, courtyard, reserved rooms). Weddings are held at the castle and national and international scientific conferences are organized there, which certainly does not contribute to the preservation of its original character, but on the other hand, it is almost the only source of income for the castle, from which they can pay for its expensive maintenance. Tourists climb 156 steps from the gate to the tower. The Pálffys have a tomb in the local cemetery.
