🩺💊✨Welcome to the Study Group Section. Gets Zen
🧪 Learn Nursing Lab Values Made Simple!
Here is your go-to place for nursing labs, normal lab values, and abnormal lab values, all explained in a flashcard format. Whether you’re a nursing student, medical student, or preparing for the NCLEX, understanding lab values in pharmacology is essential for safe patient care.
In this channel, I break down lab values one by one, including:
Electrolytes like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus
Arterial blood gases (ABGs) such as pH, PaCO₂, PaO₂, and bicarbonate (HCO₃⁻)
Complete Blood Count (CBC) values including RBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit, WBCs, and platelets
Coagulation studies like PT, INR, aPTT, and PTT for anticoagulation monitoring
Liver function tests (albumin, bilirubin, ammonia, total protein)
Renal function values such as BUN, creatinine, and GFR
Urinalysis labs like specific gravity, ketones, glucose, and WBCs
Therapeutic drug levels (digoxin, lithium, phenytoin, theophylline)
Blood glucose and HbA1c for diabetes management
Each video not only shows you the normal lab value ranges, but also explains what it means if they are abnormal. For example:
What does high potassium (hyperkalemia) mean? → Risk of arrhythmias, requires immediate nursing intervention.
What does low sodium (hyponatremia) indicate? → Confusion, seizures, and fluid imbalance.
Why do we monitor INR values for patients on warfarin? → To prevent dangerous bleeding or clotting events.
I focus on nursing implications so you know what to look for in clinical practice, and I keep everything in a flashcard-style format so it’s easy to remember for exams.
Whether you are preparing for your NCLEX lab values, reviewing for a pharmacology test, or just need a quick refresher on nursing labs, these short videos will help you memorize the most important numbers and understand what they mean when they’re abnormal.
📚 Topics covered include: NCLEX labs, pharmacology labs, nursing school normal lab values, critical lab values, therapeutic ranges, and nursing implications.
