Set in the Edo period, the film follows the deadly succession battle between shogun Hidetada Tokugawa’s sons—Tadanaga and Iemitsu—after their father’s mysterious poisoning. As loyalties shift and blood is spilled, the Yagyu clan, led by Munenori (Kinnosuke Yorozuya), and his sons Jubei (Shinichi "Sonny" Chiba) and Munefuyu (Kentaro Kudo), become entangled in a conspiracy that will shape Japan’s future.
