Описание: Interview with former L.A. JETS youth runner who went from college freshman to Olympic 400 meter champion in the same year. We talk about his early upbringing in South Central Los Angels and running for the L.A. Jets age group track club, then moving to the inner East Bay to Fremont California becoming a 2X California state 400 meter champion (1986/1987). Then moving back to Los Angeles being coached by Olympian John Smith while attending UCLA on scholarship. As a UCLA freshman he makes the 1988 U.S.A. Olympic team winning the Olympic gold medal in Seoul, S. Korea. Defeating teammate Danny Everett and Olympic favorite Harry"Butch" Reynolds, who had just set a new 400-meter world record months earlier in Zurich Switzerland. Our conversation touches on the highs and lows of becoming a young champion, dealing with a mysterious illness and multiple back surgeries that sidelined him. And thanks to his faith and family support he was able to make a come back for his second Olympic team in 1992 winning silver in the 400-meters. Overall this L.A. legend ends his career with 3 Olympic gold medals and 1 silver. First and second in the 400-meters and Golds in the 4X400m relays. We sit down like old times and reconnect like old friends!
