Talk description:
In this talk I will chart the journey that the science of emotion has led me on in collaborations on Pixar's film Inside/Out, Emoji at Facebook, and building emotion into museums on our on line life. This talk coincides with the Science at Cal weekend, including the Vision + LIght exhibition (Oct 27 & 28), and the 2017 World Conference of Science Journalists taking place in the Bay Area and Berkeley (Oct 26-30). Biography Dacher Keltner is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, as well as Co-Director of the Greater Good Science Center. He is the co-author of two textbooks, as well as the best-selling Born to Be Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life, and The Compassionate Instinct. He has published over 190 scientific articles, received numerous national prizes and grants for his research, and has written for multiple publications, including The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. In addition, he was a scientific consultant on Pixar s film, Inside Out.
