MAKES
16 Spanish Bread
INGREDIENTS:
1 Cup Fresh Milk, warm
2 tsp. Instant Dry Yeast
1/4 Cup White Sugar
3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
1 Tsp. Salt
3 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter, melted
1 Egg
FILLING:
¼ Cup Butter
½ Cup Bread Crumbs
¼ Cup Brown Sugar
¼ Cup Fresh Milk
2 Tbsp Milk Powder
¼ Tsp Salt
BRUSHING:
¼ Cup Butter
DIPPING:
1Tbsp Milk +1Tbsp Water
1 Cup Bread Crumbs
DIRECTIONS
Prepare Filling:
1. In a casserole, mix and cook all filing ingredients in a low heat. Set aside
Yeast Mixture:
2. In a bowl, dissolve 2 tsp. instant dry yeast and 1tsp.sugar in 1 cup warm milk; let it stand until bubbles form on the surface..
Flour Mixture:
3. Whisk together, 1 tsp. salt, ¼ cup sugar and 3 cups flour,
Prepare Dough:
4. Pour yeast mixture into flour mixture. Stir gradually.
5. Add 3 tbsp melted butter and beaten egg. Stir thoroughly to form soft dough.
6. Knead until smooth and elastic for about 7-10 minutes.
7. Place dough in a greased bowl, grease dough a little. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
8. Punch down dough to release the excess air, knead for 1 minute and cut into 16 equal sizes.
9. Shape into a circle and flatten each dough into a stretched oval.
10. Coat with butter and spread the filling.
11. Roll and seal.
12. Brush with milk and water mix, dip and roll into bread crumbs, then place in a baking dish. Fi§nish it all and cover to rise for 40 minutes.
13. Preheat the oven to 180°C / 356°F and bake for 20-25 minutes.
