Hyundai has officially launched the 2020 Verna in India. It is priced from Rs 9.30 lakh to Rs 15.09 lakh. The sedan is available in five variants: S, S+, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Turbo with the choice of three engine and four gearbox options. There is a 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Gearbox options include a CVT, 6-speed automatic, 6-speed manual, and a 7-speed DCT.
The 2020 Verna also comes with some features addition such as tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a semi-digital instrument cluster, Hyundai BlueLink connected car features, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear disc brakes (Turbo-only), paddle shifters (Turbo only) and LED headlamps.
Key rivals include Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento,
Honda City 2020.
There are three engines on offer: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Their power and torque outputs are 115PS-145Nm, 115PS-250Nm, and 120PS-172Nm, respectively. While the turbo-petrol is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, the 1.5-litre engines offer 6-speed manual transmissions as standard. The NA petrol is available with a CVT and the diesel with a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Fuel economy is rated by ARAI at 17.7kmpl for the NA petrol-manual, 18.45kmpl for the CVT, 25kmpl for the diesel-manual, 21.3kmpl for the torque converter, and 19.2kmpl for the turbo petrol.
The Verna will be available in four variants: S, S+, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Turbo. The base S is petrol-manual only, while the S+ is diesel-manual. If you want the turbo, you’ll have to spend a premium for the top-spec SX(O) variant.
Six colours are on offer -- Phantom Black, Polar White, Starry Night, Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, and Fiery Red.
The Verna is equipped with LED headlights and fog lamps, LED tail lamps, electrically folding outer rearview mirrors, and a new alloy wheel design. Other features include a digital instrument cluster, rear disc brakes, wireless phone charging, Hyundai BlueLink infotainment system, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and ventilated seats.
