Описание:
A distal loopogram is an X-ray procedure using contrast dye, administered via a catheter into a stoma (like a colostomy or ileostomy), to visualize the lower part of the bowel (distal loop) or urinary diversion (ileal conduit) to check for blockages, leaks, or proper healing before stoma closure or reversal surgery. The process involves inserting a tube into the stoma, injecting contrast liquid, and taking X-ray images as it fills the intestinal loops, helping doctors assess surgical connections and identify issues like strictures or leaks.
Preparation: You lie on an X-ray table, and your stoma bag is removed.
Catheter Insertion: A soft tube (catheter) is gently inserted into the stoma opening.
Contrast Injection: A contrast liquid (like barium or iodine) is slowly injected through the tube.
X-ray Imaging: A radiologist takes real-time X-rays (fluoroscopy) as the contrast flows, sometimes asking you to change positions
Completion: The procedure typically takes about 30 minutes, and the contrast is then flushed out, sometimes leaving white stool.
