As a full-time sailing family, we’re always searching for unforgettable adventures both at sea and on land — and Cape Town did not disappoint. In this episode, we take you along for epic hikes up Lion’s Head and Table Mountain, sharing breathtaking views, family travel tips, and what it’s really like exploring South Africa.

We also experience a once-in-a-lifetime mother-son safari, showing how wildlife adventures can be part of your family gap year or world travel journey. Then we step back into history with a visit to Robben Island to see the prison cell of Nelson Mandela — a powerful educational moment for our traveling homeschool family.

Of course, no South Africa travel vlog would be complete without standing at the dramatic cliffs of the Cape of Good Hope — a must-visit for anyone sailing the South African coast or planning a Cape Town itinerary.

We are a suburban blended family that has raised our 3 older children and now want to travel the world. After planning and saving for the past 6 years, we are now embracing our dream of sailing around the world on our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. Follow our journey as we Circumnavigate the Globe in 3-4 years on a budget of $4,800/month (food, communication, fuel, insurance, transportation, mooring/marina & fun). We left the USA in October 2023 and plan to visit 26 countries on 5 different continents all while worldschooling a budding teen in our off grid tiny house.
