Twenty-seven men were awarded the Medal of Honor for valor in the epic Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945. Seventy-five years later, one survives: CWO4 Hershel 'Woody' Williams, the last living Medal of Honor recipient of the Pacific Theater. In the fifth and final episode of 'Conversations with Our Greatest Generation,' we speak with the Marine Corps legend about his service in World War II. This finale episode opens with a special introduction from the 20th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, GEN Mark Milley, the proud son of World War II veterans and whose father served on Iwo Jima.
The conversation is hosted by Martha MacCallum, host of 'The Story with Martha MacCallum'' on Fox News Channel. Her uncle, Harry Gray, was one of the nearly 7,000 Americans killed on Iwo Jima, a story recently recounted in her book, 'Unknown Valor: A Story of Family, Courage, and Sacrifice from Pearl Harbor to Iwo Jima.'
'Conversations with Our Greatest Generation' is presented by the United States of America World War II 75th Commemoration. Thank you for watching this special series, and please share with friends and family, as we preserve the stories of our greatest living heroes of the Second World War.
