Another compilation from the previous month. We had heavy snow so the yard had to be ploughed a few times, I shot a bit of footage from inside the Case loading shovel with the plough attached to the quick hitch. There’s a 360 degree view, or perhaps more than one, from my Sennebogen 835E cab, it gives you an idea of the geography around our yard.
Next I unload some long heavy girders, some were much too long for the 8 metre box on the shear so they were burnt in half and then sheared.
A customer dropped a safe off that I had to bomb with the four tonne ball. It was a well made safe, around £2k to buy new, weighing 1.25 tonnes, there was a fair bit of concrete lining it and it took a few smacks before it disintegrated.
There’s a longish sequence as I loaded a couple of bulk tippers, starting in the dark. I start work at 5.30am but I can’t start loading until 7.00 because of noise and licensing restrictions.
I filmed Carl, one of my lads, loading turnings with the Sennebogen 825E and magnet, he was just topping the load off with a couple of tonnes after I’d loaded the bulk of the load with the 835 and grab, the fog was very thick for half a day.
The end of the video is arguably the most interesting part. We had two large, 25 tonne capacity, overhead cranes delivered this week. They’d already been cut in half. I put them straight in the Copex, not sure if it would be able to compress them prior to shearing. The second one was the hardest as it also had a pedestrian gantry welded to it. Anyway, the Copex succeeded and the steel has already been delivered to Liverpool docks for export. That just about rounds it up, there’s a couple of other bits in there as well I think.
