Hmong Exhibition

The 𝙇𝙤𝙨 𝙏𝙨𝙚𝙫, 𝘾𝙞𝙖 𝙎𝙞𝙖𝙗 𝙞𝙣 𝙒𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙣 exhibit is in the lobby of WHS headquarters. It honors the 50th anniversary of Hmoob (Hmong) resettlement in Wisconsin and the endless culture and everyday life of Hmoob communities bring to our state.

𝙇𝙤𝙨 𝙏𝙨𝙚𝙫, 𝘾𝙞𝙖 𝙎𝙞𝙖𝙗 𝙞𝙣 𝙒𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙣 is a comprehensive, active and engaging display that invites viewers to interact, watch a film, see a bedroom display and learn about Hmong history. Viewers can contemplate the ways HMoob people have worked through the trauma of war and how their culture enriches Wisconsin. See timelines, try interactive activities and read and listen to stories. The exhibit is organized by room, illustrating the ways war shows up at home and how a displaced community can live through revitalization and changing the spaces and landscapes around them.

This exhibit was created by HMoob community members and scholars, activists, artists and others who gathered as community curators from across Wisconsin. This exhibit is also a collaboration with educational institutions and non-profits and was previously on display at the Annex Gallery at the UW-Oshkosh and Madison College.
