Pros: supereffective tera type, great defense stat (thanks to 1.5x boost from eviolite), excellent special attack stat, outspeeds. no weaknesses after terastalizing, resists stomping tantrum after terastalizing, covert cloak blocks special attack debuffs from snarl. skill swap removes special attack reduction from vessel of ruin. acid spray debuffs special defense 2 stages through shield while charging tera orb. giga drain has 75 base power, 100 accuracy, and deals supereffective (STAB when terastalized) damage. it heals by 50% of damage dealt. special attacks take advantage of ting-lu's relatively low special defense stat.

Cons: tera type mismatches base type, weak to snarl before terastalizing, mediocre HP stat. weak to stomping tantrum after using skill swap but before terastalizing. vulnerable to special attack debuffs from snarl.
