A warmth that will linger when summer is done… the hay harvest has just finished at Lower Merripit Farm. We have been working with our organic species-rich hay meadows for thirty years and have now reached the perfect recipe of flowers and grasses! We harvest old-style with 1970 baler, old equipment we found at farm auctions and our small green tractor – plus lots of raking, lifting and stacking! The hay is stored as winter food for farm mares and our wild pony herd on the moor. Harvest team this year: Nigel, Carolyn, Leaf, Gabrielle and Jolyon – thanks everyone!
