Welcome to Moat Cottage.
On this channel we will show you how to be more self sufficient and homestead in a small space.
Grow organic food, preserve the harvest, raise backyard poultry, natural remedies, getting prepared, money saving ideas, how to get more organised and much, much more.

Moat Cottage is a private residence and homestead, on about 1/6th of an acre, in a small rural town, in country Victoria, Australia.
Elissa Jayne was formerly homesteading on 1000 acres and when life sent her to Moat Cottage, she continued her homesteading lifestyle, as "you do what you can, where you are!"
Luckily her town is surrounded by plenty of land, that she gratefully has access to, both crown bushland and private land.
Moat Cottage is life from raising happy, free range Poultry to growing organic vegetables to using the produce in the kitchen, with awesome health the goal, money saving tips and DIY projects.
Elissa has a Trade background and believes that skills are more important than stuff. She wants to make the world a better place by looking after the planet with as little chemicals as possible and hopes that more people will stand up for clean, real food.
Elissa is also living with CFS & Fibromyalgia so is sick more than she is well......She likes to focus on the ability and not the disability.

I'm Elissa and on this channel you will see my homesteading life.
I show you how to be more self sustainable & homestead in a small space.
You'll see how to grow organic food, use and preserve the harvest, raise backyard poultry, both Muscovy ducks and Chickens as well as breeding Mealworms and Crickets.
You will learn how to make natural remedies, get more prepared for emergency situations, how to organise the homestead, money saving ideas and how to live with less waste.

Here at Moat Cottage, we raise and grow and process some of our own free range meat, organic vegetables and fruit.
We grow all of our herbs for both eating and medicinal purposes as well as hunt, fish and forage.
We preserve our produce for the year ahead by canning, dehydrating and freezing and we work on being prepared for emergency situations.
We live using less waste, we recycle and upcycle and love finding what is needed for a project at the scrap yard, op shop or a garage sale, but only buy what is really needed.
We don't like plastic, chemicals and artificial fragrances and are trying to live an older style life balanced with this modern world lifestyle.
Good health and natural living has always been a high priority for our family and despite this two family members are living with auto immune diseases, myself included.
We focus on what we can do, when we can do it, stay positive and so I make these videos for you on my best days.
