In this video, we solve a fluid mechanics problem involving a piezometer and a Pitot tube tapped into a 3-cm diameter horizontal water pipe. The water column heights are measured as 20 cm in the piezometer and 35 cm in the Pitot tube (both referenced from the top of the pipe). Using these measurements, we determine the velocity of water at the center of the pipe.
We’ll cover:
✅ The principles of static, dynamic, and stagnation pressure
✅ How piezometers and Pitot tubes are used to measure fluid pressure and velocity
✅ Step-by-step application of Bernoulli’s Equation
✅ Final calculation of flow velocity in the pipe
This example is perfect for mechanical, civil, and aerospace engineering students, or anyone preparing for exams in fluid mechanics and hydraulics.
