Описание: In my most recent site-specific sculptures, I am working with construction and found materials alluding to a working-class aesthetic: bricks, wood planks, half-built and abandoned wooden fragments as a metaphor of the construct of our lives, as the idea of building a life, career goals, etc. I place the found objects in precarious positions that explore notions of force, tension, stress, pressure & strain while also creating a balance. I appear in my work via video to document the sculpture's fall and show the development and destruction process narratives. I emerge, removing portions of the pieces that hold them down by their mere pressure. As the parts are removed, the pieces collapse. I want to show the fragility of the pieces as a metaphor for the fragility in our lives. I am exploring a narrative of balancing the fall and destruction as a means to rebuild or regenerate. I am interested in Hegel's "The Fall where "[The "Fall" is the eternal mythus. The Planks are placed in ways that create tension, thus resisting their fall. A metaphor for most of our lives. We live resisting or avoiding falls, seeking new levels of success or even survival, but no one wants to simply fall.
