Mormonism claims that Jesus is our spirit brother, and that we were all born to Heavenly Father before being born on earth. The LDS Church teaches that Jesus secured a universal atonement for all men on earth, and that he has done the heavy lifting so that we can dwell with Heavenly Father in the Celestial Kingdom. Jesus is special in the Latter-day Saint faith, but he is still merely an exalted human, just like we can be.
Yet Christians believe something altogether different. Christianity has long held that Jesus is utterly unique, and no one can be compared to Him. The Bible teaches that Jesus is God, equal to the Father by the way it speaks of Jesus' works, attributes, his names, and the fact that Jesus approves of being worshipped.
So what should we think about Jesus? How does LDS doctrine differ from Christian beliefs? While both Mormons and Christians agree that Jesus has a human nature, does the Bible teach that there are significant differences between Jesus and us? If so, what are they?
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him." (Colossians 1:15–16)
