1950s HLTP Marshall Cast Iron Cistern with Shaw Knight pan

Should have been the M's equivant to the previous video but I remembered I had this.. This was an old fave of mine for dauntless486. I checked the derelict house during that summer only to find the inside sanitary-ware was outside, and due to be scrapped.. It was all smashed out in bits, so nothing could have been salvaged. So I privately filmed the outside toilet for myself since I knew what happened to the inside sanitary-ware. When I saw it, I found it at deaths door, and now leaking. It had seriously deteriorated over the two years I last saw it. The bell and the inside of the cistern had rusted away to the point it was no longer flushing properly. I got it to work on the take I realized my headphones were plugged in, but very weak and sucky. When it filled up and I did the retake after realizing my error, I spent 5 mins endlessly trying to flush it and it basically showed me that it had finally let go. So it's death was documented, but so was the story of a toilets life after the war the start. It and the cistern was installed in one of the buildings for the nearby airfield. Finally opened in 1944 and closed in early 1946. The owner of the house took over the land and tried to keep all the buildings and use them for agricultual purposes. All the hundreds that were installed were fire-clay Enamelstone Ware pans, all slightly different from each other, and the cisterns were all high level bell syphon cast irons under various names. The guy hated spending money, so there is no question where this came from once it was installed..... A piece of history that worked for the last 73 years. DTL seems to be D.T Ltd. But I won't know what the name at the start is..

I returned a few months after filming this, I found the cistern & pan still there. But it was disconnected and the existing pipe to the cistern became connected to an outdoor tap. And the bucket was used to flush the toilet. I haven't been there for ages to see if it's been replaced cos i'm sure the house is occupied by now.

Update: June 2019, outhouse is now demolished.
