⛓️ Slavery was introduced in Bermuda by the 17th century, and both African and Indigenous American slaves were brought to the island. Slavery was abolished in 1834, but racial inequality persisted.
🇬🇧🇺🇸 Though still a British Overseas Territory, Bermuda has long had strong American connections, including trade, tourism, and military use during WWII and the Cold War. Its culture and economy reflect a mix of British institutions and American influence.
💰🏝️ In the 20th century, Bermuda became known as a global financial center with no corporate income tax. Its stability, British legal system, and favourable regulations attracted multinational companies, making it a top offshore tax haven (especially for reinsurance companies).
