I'm just getting started & learning a lot as I go =)
This is a delicious recipe that I created years ago to copycat a dish that my husband loves from Steak 'n Shake.
It's spaghetti topped with a tangy chili sauce, with shredded cheese, diced onion, & sour cream on top.
The key ingredient is the chili sauce ... it gives it that tangy 'wang' that is signature to this dish.
Give it a try & I'm sure you'll add it in with your go-to recipes.
It's especially nice during the fall & winter months when hearty, warm meals are on the menu!
Angie's Chili Mac Supreme
1 - 1.5 lb ground beef
1 large onion, diced
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1 c. ketchup
1 12 oz jar chili sauce
1 15 oz can chili beans
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1 Tbsp. cumin
1- 1.5 cups water
salt / pepper to taste
*optional red pepper flakes
16 oz spaghetti, cooked & drained
Brown ground beef & drain.
Add in 1/2 of the onion & garlic & simmer together for a few minutes until slightly softened.
(Reserve the reminder of onion to use as topping if desired.)
Add in all other ingredients (except pasta) & simmer for 15-30 minutes on low heat.
Serve over pasta & top with diced onion, shredded cheese, & sour cream.
The nice thing about this recipe is that you can adjust the majority of the ingredients according to taste. Nothing's set in stone here. Those are my favorite kind of recipes!
