Plus a quick history lesson in how the internet worked in the days of dial-up. Back in 1998, I did something that, as far as I know, never had been attempted before: Provide live commentary over the internet from the site of a major sporting event -- or at least a major motorsport event. I gave written commentary over Internet Relay Chat from the Media Center at Laguna Seca Raceway during the United States Grand Prix round of the SBK Superbike World Championship.
