Описание: দেশের অন্যতম প্রাচীন রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত প্রতিষ্ঠান কেরু অ্যান্ড কোম্পানি (বাংলাদেশ) লিমিটেড চলতি ২০২৪-২৫ অর্থবছরে ইতিহাস সৃষ্টি করেছে। বিক্রি কিছুটা কমলেও প্রতিষ্ঠানটি করেছে রেকর্ড ১৯০ কোটি টাকার মুনাফা—যা প্রায় নয় দশকের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ। বিদেশি মদ আমদানিতে সরকারের কঠোর বিধিনিষেধ ও স্থানীয় বাজারে কেরুর মদের চাহিদা বৃদ্ধিই এই সাফল্যের মূল চাবিকাঠি।কিন্তু প্রশ্ন হলো—বিক্রি কমে গেলেও কীভাবে কেরু এত বিপুল মুনাফা করতে পারল?এর পেছনে আছে একটি বড় গল্প, যেখানে হার-জিত, সংকট ও পুনরুত্থান—সবকিছু মিলেমিশে আছে এক আর্থিক নাটকের মতো।২০২৪-২৫ অর্থবছরে কেরুর ডিস্টিলারি ইউনিটের মোট আয় ৩ শতাংশ কমে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৪৪৪ কোটি টাকায়। এর কারণ, বছরের শুরুর দিকে রাজনৈতিক অস্থিরতায় উৎপাদন ও বিক্রি কিছুটা কমে গিয়েছিল। কিন্তু শেষ প্রান্তিকে সেই ঘাটতি পুষিয়ে দেয় শক্তিশালী মুনাফার প্রবৃদ্ধি। লোকসানি চিনি ইউনিটের ৬২ কোটি টাকা ক্ষতি বাদ দিয়েও কোম্পানির সমন্বিত নিট মুনাফা হয়েছে ১২৮ কোটি টাকা—যা আগের বছরের তুলনায় ৫২ শতাংশ বেশি।

Keru & Company (Bangladesh) Limited, one of the oldest state-owned companies in the country, has created history in the current fiscal year 2024-25. Despite a slight decline in sales, the company has made a record profit of Tk 190 crore—the highest in almost nine decades. The government's strict restrictions on the import of foreign liquor and the increase in demand for Keru liquor in the local market are the keys to this success. But the question is—how was Keru able to make such a huge profit despite a decline in sales? There is a big story behind this, where losses and victories, crisis and revival—everything comes together like a financial drama. In the fiscal year 2024-25, the total income of Keru's distillery unit decreased by 3 percent to Tk 444 crore. This is because production and sales decreased slightly due to political unrest at the beginning of the year. But strong profit growth in the last quarter made up for that shortfall. Even excluding the loss of Tk 62 crore from the sugar unit, the company's consolidated net profit was Tk 128 crore—52 percent more than the previous year.
