I tried to use David Ellsberg’s “Doomsday” as a source but he is so far up his own bottom that I wound up throwing it across the room several times and eventually gave up
Much more helpful was “Command and Control” by Eric Schlosser (2013), “The Dead Hand” by David Hoffman which includes a properly insomnia inducing discussion of chemical and biological weapons as well as nuclear ones, and “The Bomb” by Fred Kaplan
