Early life
Aasia was born in 1952 as Firdous in Patiala, Punjab, India She emigrated from India to Pakistan.She resided in Canada after retiring from her career, where she died on 9 March 2013, aged 60
Career
She had made her debut in the Pakistani film industry in 1970 in a film by producer Shabab Kiranwi. In the same year, she also acted in film director Riaz Shahid's movie Gharnata (1970). Aasia acted in more than 179 Punjabi movies, including also several Urdu films. Aasia is best remembered for her iconic role of 'Mukkho' in the Punjabi blockbuster Maula Jatt (1979). This role redefined the concept of 'Jatti' and 'Chaudhrani' in Pakistani Punjabi language films. In that film, she had based her Punjabi language accent on the Sargodha and Jhang accents
Personal life
She had married a Karachi-based businessman, and they had four children together
Death
Aasia quit the film industry in the mid 1980s, and had been residing in Canada with her family. She had sought treatment for some health issue in 2011 at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi and then quietly went back to Canada.[1] She died on 9 March 2013 in Canada aged 60,

Aasia, whose real name was Firdous, joined the film industry as an actress in early 1970s and left it in mid-90s. She was introduced to Lollywood by film director Riaz Shahid in his movie, Gharnata. Once she stepped into the film industry, there was no looking back. She acted in over 100 films.
She soon became the first choice of many directors because of her superb acting skills.
Aasia left the industry in mid-90s after getting disillusioned with the attitude of producers and directors.
First she moved to Singapore, but finally made Canada her home. She never came into contact with industry people after she quit it and never tried to rejoin the film industry in Pakistan.
However, she visited Karachi two years ago for treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital. Then she quietly went back to Canada.
Aasia, whose husband is a Karachi-based businessman, is survived by two daughters.
Among her popular films are Maula Jatt, Wehshi Jatt, Wada, Sehray Kay Phool, Sher Khan, Pehli Nazar and Char Khun Dey Piyasay.
Film director Shabab Keranvi cast her in his film Insaan Aur Admi. The directors she worked with included Riaz Shahid, Iftikhar Khan, Altaf Husain, Aslam Dar, Hasan Askari and Younus Malik.
Aasia acted both in Punjabi and Urdu films.
