Pediatric Oncologist Arrested for DWI After Crashing into a Police Car

Описание: On December 10, 2025 around 8:20 PM, Patrolman Steven Ferlisi with the Colts Neck Police Department responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a black 2024 Lexus RX 350 on County Road 537 near School Road East. Patrolman Brian Mason had been working an off duty detail, but he was not equipped with his body worn camera since he was not on duty. The driver of the Lexus struck a vehicle that is owned by the Colts Neck Police Department.

As he exited the vehicle to initiate contact with the driver, she began driving in reverse and attempted to flee the scene. Eventually, he was able to get the driver to stop the vehicle. After the driver stopped, Patrolman Mason reached across her to put the vehicle in park and ordered her to exit the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Rohini Singh, was displaying indicators of impairment. In addition to the odor of alcohol, the officers would later find an open container of Vodka inside the vehicle.

Patrolman Mason told Rohini that she was under arrest. Since she began resisting, he restrained her manually until Patrolman Ferlisi arrived on scene and placed her in handcuffs. Due to her uncooperative nature, field sobriety exercises were not attempted. After she was placed under arrest, she told the officers that she was going to see her 6-year-old daughter. She offered conflicting accounts as to whether or not her daughter was with a babysitter. She also mentioned that she was a pediatric hematologist-oncologist by profession.

Rohini was eventually transported to the Colts Neck Police Department for further processing. She was belligerent and uncooperative while being transported. Her vehicle was impounded by for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law. The Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read to her at the station, but she refused to submit breath samples. Once they finished processing her, Rohini was eventually released to a sober adult pending her court appearance after she signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Rohini’s behalf.

Rohini was issued the following citations:
-Operating under the influence (39:4-50)
-Refusal to submit to chemical test (39:4-50.4A)
-Reckless driving (39:4-97)
-Careless driving (39:4-97)
-Failure to maintain lane (39:4-88)
-Open container (39:4-51B)

On January 16, 2026, Rohini was issued additional citations in Colts Neck for disregarding a stop sign (39:4-144) and failure to signal (39:4-126). She has previously been accused of failing to report an accident and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage in Colts Neck on September 21, 2024. This occurred after she struck another vehicle with 5 children inside and fled the scene of the crash. After she was cited for the September 21, 2024 car crash, Rohini pleaded guilty to failure to report an accident (39:4-130) and careless driving (39:4-97) on December 13, 2024. As a result of those guilty pleas, Rohini had to pay a total of $630 in fines.
