In the first episode of The Courage to Try, we follow Jennifer George—a mother of two, former D1 athlete, and trail runner—who was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer just weeks after qualifying for the Western States 100.

In 2023, Jennifer won one of just five coveted raffle entries into the 2025 Western States 100. With over 50,000 lottery tickets submitted annually, earning a spot in this race is a dream for trail runners worldwide. However, shortly after securing her entry, Jennifer received her diagnosis.

Through chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and medically induced menopause, Jen continued to train for the hardest race of her life: 100 miles through the extreme heat and elevation of the Western States course. This film is about more than running; it is a testament to resilience, family, and the power of belief.
