In our Turning Scraps Into Snacks series, taking leftover bread crust and turning it into cinnamon rolls might be our favorite hack of the year.
Instead of throwing away leftover bread crusts, we rolled them up and cooked them into soft, gooey, cinnamon buns that honestly don’t feel like a “hack” at all 🤯
✨ Bread Crust Cinnamon Roll Hack
Bread crusts (leave a little bread attached)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup water
Cinnamon (to taste)
✨ Quick Icing (optional):
1 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
How to make it:
1️⃣ Use crusts that still have a bit of bread on them — it helps everything stay soft.
2️⃣ Roll each crust into a spiral and secure with a skewer (or press down gently while cooking).
3️⃣ In a pan over medium-high heat, combine butter, sugar, and water until melted and bubbling.
4️⃣ Add the rolls and cook the first side for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown.
5️⃣ Flip, sprinkle cinnamon onto the cooked side, and continue cooking.
6️⃣ Add a splash more butter or water if needed until both sides are caramelized.
7️⃣ Whisk powdered sugar and milk together and drizzle on top if you want icing.
Crispy outside. Gooey inside. No food waste 🙌
